Canoe or Kayak Dingmans Ferry to Smithfield Beach

Spend two fun-filled days on the water on this river adventure that takes you from the historic Dingmans Ferry Bridge to beautiful Smithfield Beach, 21 miles downstream. Two days of paddling and one night of camping make for the perfect amount of time exploring this national recreation area.

Your journey begins just south of the Dingmans Ferry Bridge, once the site of a ferry crossing for over 100 years before the first of four bridges was erected in the area beginning in 1836.

As you start paddling toward Smithfield Beach, you’ll pass many beautiful vistas, as well as several islands in the middle of the river. You may also see an abundance of wildlife local to northeastern Pennsylvania, like bears, deer, bald eagles and other birds, and other creatures that call the area home.

This Poconos kayaking and canoeing trip is great for most ages and ability levels, so everyone can enjoy this fun Delaware River voyage, with the exception of some very young children who would do better on a shorter trip. This trip is similar in distance to the Eshback to Delaware Water Gap trip but begins a little farther north. This adventure also offers abundant camping opportunities, sure to please outdoor enthusiasts.
